What is Dental Bonding?
This non-invasive, aptly named cosmetic procedure has your dentist bonding tooth-coloured composite resin to your tooth to match the surrounding natural teeth.
Typically, dental bonding is used to repair chipped or discoloured teeth. It can also be used to make teeth appear longer, to change their shape or colour or to close gaps between teeth, making them look more symmetrical.
The Bonding Procedure
Dental bonding can usually be completed in about 30 to 60 minutes per tooth and typically only requires one visit to your dentist's office.
The dentist will apply an etching solution to the surface of your tooth to prepare it for bonding. A composite resin that matches the colour of your teeth will then be applied.
The tooth will be sculpted and composite resin will then be molded into shape and hardened in place with a high-intensity curing light to leave you with a healthier-looking smile.
Dental Bonding in Orléans: The Benefits
Occasionally patients come to us with minor cosmetic dental issues such as gapped, discoloured or cracked teeth. Dental bonding can help to address this.
After your dentist has completed the procedure, your teeth will look more natural, especially if the tooth that's been filled is visible when you smile.
Teeth are also strengthened with the application of composite resin, so you'll likely be able to enjoy meals without having to worry about breaking or cracking your tooth.
